According to a publication by the company Redimec, the second Cadet Instruction Boat (Lancha de Instrucción de Cadetes – LICA) ARA “Ciudad de Berisso” of the Argentine Navy conducted its first sea trials at the end of 2023. The purpose of these trials was to fine-tune and verify the proper functioning of all systems in a real operational environment.

The ship, built at the Astilleros Rio Santiago, was observed by Zona Militar at one of the shipyard’s fitting-out docks during the sea trials carried out by her sister ship, the LICA ARA “Ciudad de Ensenada”.

With the recent navigation of the second unit, the final preparation process advances, and its official delivery to the Argentine Navy is estimated to be imminent. It is worth mentioning that during a recent deployment in celebration of the 150th anniversary of the Zárate Naval Base, the LICA ARA “Ciudad de Ensenada” trained alongside the ARA “King” in passage and integrated training maneuvers.

They are equipped with two (2) fixed-pitch propellers, each coupled to a diesel engine that produces a Maximum Continuous Rating (MCR) of approximately 405 kW (550 HP) at 2100 RPM.
