In the framework of strengthening its transportation capabilities, the Argentine Air Force is preparing to receive soon the first of its new Embraer ERJ-140LR aircraft. This development marks the progress made in the purchasing process outlined in the tender conducted last year.

As reported in October 2023, during the pre-adjudication phase of the offer presented by Regional One Inc., the Argentine Air Force is finalizing preparations for the incorporation of the first Embraer ERJ-140LR offered by the American company.

As indicated in the Evaluation of Offers Opinion from last October, which determined the feasibility of acquiring two Embraer ERJ-140LR from the American company Regional One Inc. for a total amount of USD 6,856,200.

Regarding the background of the American firm, it is a “buyer, lessor, and seller of aircraft, aircraft parts, engines, and engine parts, offering worldwide assistance to regional and commercial aircraft operators. Our team of aviation professionals operates from our corporate offices and strategically located warehouse facilities in South Florida“. Among its clients are the Colombian Aerospace Force, Iberia, Nordica, SkyWest Airlines, Air Europa, among others.

As for the two Embraer ERJ-140 to be acquired by the Argentine Air Force, they are the aircraft identified with Manufacturer Serial Numbers (MSN) 145754 and 145747, manufactured by the Brazilian company in 2003.

While no further details were provided about which of the aircraft will be received soon, sources consulted by Zona Militar indicated that it would likely be the aircraft MSN 145754, which was previously operated by American Eagle Airlines and Envoy.

Finally, “the Argentine Air Force’s intention to acquire aircraft of the Embraer ERJ 140/145 category dates back to at least 2015 when then Minister of Defense Agustín Rossi confirmed during the 103rd anniversary ceremony of the Argentine Air Force the intention to incorporate two units for LADE. Over the years, the project was put on hold, only to be resumed with renewed interest in strengthening and expanding the capabilities of State Airlines,” as reported last October.
