Days ago, in light of the forest fires affecting the Los Alerces and Nahuel Huapi national parks, the Ministry of Defense and the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the Armed Forces, through the Operational Command of the Armed Forces, deployed resources and personnel to support firefighting efforts in the affected areas.
In this regard, the Ministry of Defense stated on February 6th: “Transportation and a specialized aerial observation system have been made available for the rapid transfer of firefighters and fire monitoring; mobile communication centers have been activated, and sanitary support has been guaranteed for efficient intervention in emergencies“.
Thus, yesterday, the Hercules C-130H TC-66 of the Air Transport Squadron I transported a team of 45 firefighters from the city of Santa Fe to the Chubut Province, who will soon join the firefighting efforts currently focused on preventing the expansion of fires affecting Los Alerces National Park to the city of Esquel.
Additionally, other resources from the Argentine Army are also in the Chubut Emergency Zone, providing support for the transportation of firefighters and personnel, as well as materials to continue supporting efforts to combat the significant fires affecting the indicated provinces.
