In the framework of a river patrol in the state of Amazonas, the Brazilian Navy (MB) managed to seize approximately 1.17 tons of drugs in the Içá River. The intervention, which took place on February 11th, involved the participation of a River Patrol Vessel (NPaFlu) and tracker dogs from the force.

During the operation, the NPaFlu intercepted a suspicious boat of the “rabetinha” type, which resisted stopping and tried to escape. Faced with this situation, a specialized team from the MB was deployed to board the boat. However, upon arrival, the boat was found abandoned on the riverbank, with no crew present, as they managed to flee.

The illegally seized cargo, valued in tons, was handed over to the Federal Police and subsequently incinerated by the Civil Police in Tabatinga (AM), in a joint operation to combat international drug trafficking.

The operation also had the support of an aircraft from the 1st Squadron of General-Purpose Helicopters of the Northwest and a detachment of Marine Infantry from the 1st Battalion of Riverine Operations, highlighting the coordination between the different branches of the Armed Forces.

The Brazilian Navy constantly conducts Naval Patrol operations throughout the country, especially in border and Amazon regions, to prevent environmental and cross-border crimes. This action reaffirms the commitment of security forces in the fight against illicit activities, contributing to the preservation of the security and integrity of Brazilian jurisdictional waters.
