The Israeli made Eitan armoured fighting vehicle (AFV)Eitan proves its capabilities in the war inside the Gaza strip.
The “Eitan” is the most advanced wheeled APC of its kind in the world. It can carry 12 personnel at maximum-level protection, incorporates the “Iron Fist” active defence system, and includes advanced fire and control systems.
The eight-wheeled Eitan is based on Merkava and Namer technologies. It is equipped to carry twelve combat personnel. The 750-horsepower APC, developed by Israel’s Ministry of Defence Tank and APC Directorate, can drive at around 90 kilometers per hour, has high all-terrain maneuvering capabilities, and can be in operational use for days at a time.
The Eitan incorporates state-of-the-art technologies, including the Elbit systems “Iron Fist” active defence system, peripheral cameras equipped with day and night vision, and processing capabilities using computerized technology, and touch monitors and processors.
Shortly before the war the Eitan has been equipped with many local made systems.
Some of the main systems especially the electro optic ones are made by Israeli company IMCO.
This company has recently received an additional order from the Israel Ministry of Defense Directorate of Production and Procurement (DOPP), for additional electrical and electro-optic sub-systems for the Eitan .
