Taking place along the coast of the Beagle Channel, personnel from the Argentine Marine Infantry Battalion No. 4 (BIM4) based at the Ushuaia Naval Base conducted instruction and training activities with wheeled amphibious vehicles (VAR), with the support of the transport vessel ARA “Canal Beagle.”

The exercise began at the facilities of BIM4, from where the personnel were later transported by VAR LARC-5 to the ARA “Canal Beagle,” where they carried out various drills (combat, abandonment, etc.) and received instruction on the characteristics of the naval unit.

After observing the embarkation and disembarkation maneuvers of the VAR, the Marine Infantry personnel were transported again in these vehicles to “Zodiac” type inflatable boats, through which they arrived at the Battalion’s shores to execute a beach landing practice.

It is worth noting that the ARA “Canal Beagle” was anchored in the bay of Ushuaia as part of the logistical support provided during the Summer Antarctic Campaign 2023/2024. This unit sailed from the Naval Base Buenos Aires at the end of January heading to the city of Ushuaia to carry out the logistical bridge Buenos Aires – Ushuaia, under the operational control of the Antarctic Joint Command (COCOANTAR).
