Through Resolution S/N/024 of the Ministry of Defense of Uruguay, the decision to accept the donation offered by the Office of Defense Cooperation of the U.S. Embassy for a batch of 4×4 Mamba MK7 armored vehicles was made official.

The agreement also contemplates the delivery of 14 multi-band communication equipment, complete maintenance packages for the vehicles and systems and 6 operational training, maintenance and repair courses, for an amount of U$D 13,900,000.

According to the purpose outlined by the Defense Cooperation Office of the U.S. Embassy, the vehicles will collaborate with the General Command of the Army to meet the standards required by the United Nations, aiming for their deployment in Peacekeeping Operational Missions.

About the Mamba Mk7
Developed by Osprea Logistics, this is an APC developed in the USA, based on the APC Mamba MK5 and the Mk5 Iveco, with increased armor and protection against landmines.

It is powered by a Deutz BF6L9l4C Turbo 6-cylinder in-line diesel engine, with a displacement of 6,128 cc and a maximum power output of 203 hp DIN at 2,500 rpm. It is equipped with an Allison 2500SP automatic transmission with 6 forward and one reverse gear. Its traction system is of the permanent 4×4 type associated with a parabolic leaf suspension.

It is 6,327 mm long, 2,668 mm wide and 2,595 mm high. It reaches a top speed of 105 km/h (65 mph), with a highway cruising speed of 94 km/h (58 mph). Among its main features, the Mamba Mk7 can carry up to 11 troops (2 crew members + 9 soldiers), and can ford watercourses up to 1,200 mm. without additional preparation.
