Official opening was given to the park-level inspection of one of the AT-27 Tucano aircraft held by the Paraguayan Air Force, following the refurbishment and setup of the hangar owned by the Aerotactical Group on the premises of the Silvio Pettirossi Air Base, located near the international airport serving the city of Asunción.
The renovated hangar will serve for FAP technicians, with the advice of technicians from the Brazilian Air Force through the Brazilian Aeronautical Technical Mission, to carry out the scheduled park-level inspection (INPP) of the Tucano aircraft with registration 1057. Currently, the FAP has six operational Tucanos, in addition to five T35 Pillán aircraft of Chilean manufacture, which serve as training aircraft and are based in the city of Concepción.
Lieutenant Colonel Fabio Candia, commander of the Aerotactical Group, emphasized that the inspections to be carried out in the hangar will serve not only to recover additional maintenance capacity but also to save resources for the Paraguayan state.
Representatives from the United States in the country also participated in the opening ceremony of the INPP, including instructors, pilots, and fighter technicians from the Aerotactical Group.
Let’s remember that a month ago, the Brazilian company Embraer made a formal offer to equip the FAP with A-29 Super Tucano, in an offer that also includes the construction of a new hangar for the training and maintenance of the aircraft to be acquired. Therefore, this expansion of capabilities by the FAP aligns with what could soon be the acquisition of the Super Tucanos.
