According to a statement from the French National Navy, in the upcoming days, the Charles de Gaulle Carrier Strike Group (CSG) will be deployed to undertake a new mission under NATO command.

In this regard, on April 22nd, the Charles de Gaulle, accompanied by frigates and an attack submarine, will deploy in the Mediterranean along with the embarked air group. This group consists of various types of aircraft: fighter planes for attacks at sea or on land, helicopters for logistics and also for anti-submarine warfare or surface force illumination. Additionally, there are early warning aircraft for long-range aerial detection and to direct potential attacks carried out by the fighters.

The mission that the CSG will carry out under the name AKILA will involve other units from the United States, Spain, Greece, Italy, and Portugal, where NATO will take the reins of command.

These will participate in Alliance activities in the Mediterranean and throughout Europe with the aim of bolstering defensive and deterrent posture, contributing to collective security, and supporting operations to promote regional stability, as stated by the press release from the French National Navy.

Likewise, the activity, expected to last six weeks, will seek interoperability, adjusting technical procedures, mutual logistical support, and command methods.
