Yesterday, the “Estado Mayor Conjunto de las Fuerzas Armadas” (EMCOFFAA) reported that aircraft from the Argentine Air Force intercepted two planes that violated current regulations for the safe use of airspace. Although information is limited, we are awaiting a statement for further clarification about the incident occurred over the past weekend.
As of today, the Argentine Air Force, under the coordination and request of the Aerospace Joint Command, has deployed various aircraft to several points across the country to carry out effective airspace control. This not only applies to aircraft without flight plans that may encroach upon national territory but also to those, as seen over the past weekend, that may pose a potential danger.
As clarified in their statement on social media, over the weekend, “…two aircraft were intercepted for violating current regulations for the safe use of Argentine airspace.”
Although further details such as the location or region where the incidents occurred were not provided, from the photographs released, it is evident that the Argentine Air Force aircraft involved in the interception were EMB-312 Tucano and A-4AR Fightinghawk planes; the latter belonging to the 5th Air Brigade (V BA).
Regarding the civilian aircraft, according to the photographs, one of the cases presumably involves an Air Tractor plane, which is used for firefighting purposes as well as other agricultural-related activities. However, without an official statement from EMCOFFAA, there are no further specifics available regarding the interception carried out by the Argentine Air Force.
