The proliferation of anti-aircraft systems in the Middle East due to the growing cooperation between Russia and Iran brought Israeli companies to develop new protection systems for aerial platforms.
The systems are being developed according the threat “map” being upgraded consciously by the Israel air force flying in airspace never before were visited by Israeli aircraft.
According to Israeli intelligence sources the threats have become ” more diversified and more serious “
Some of the new defensive systems are classified but Rafael has released details on one of them – the X-Guard RT, the latest addition to its X-Guar family of reusable towed EW decoys.
According to the Israeli company The X-Guard RT offers unparalleled protection for a wide range of aerial platforms, including fighter aircraft, cargo planes, early warning and intelligence platforms, patrol aircraft, special missions’ platforms, and more.
Rafael says that In response to the lessons learned from recent conflicts, the X-Guard RT addresses the evolving challenges of modern warfare, including advanced and diverse Integrated Air Defense Systems (IADS), lack of intelligence, and extended periods of lacking air dominance.
Rafael says that the X-Guard is the only towed EW decoy that is reusable, deployable, and retractable during flight, providing a highly cost-effective solution. With minimal limitations on aircraft maneuverability, X-Guard supports an exceptionally broad flight envelope, maintaining operational flexibility without degradation in flight performance.
The Israeli company says that the X-Guard RT is operating independently, receives, generates, and transmits signals without requiring additional ECM systems onboard the aircraft.
The company added that the new version is equipped with an Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) Radar, that ensures advanced threat detection and jamming capabilities.
The new version according to the company is designed to operate across a wide frequency range, and provides protection against a broad spectrum of EW threats.
