In the context of the deployment of the Bolivarian Military Aviation for the control of Venezuelan airspace, personnel from the AMB neutralized an unidentified aircraft on the ground allegedly linked to criminal organizations involved in drug trafficking in the state of Guarico, south of Caracas.
According to a post made by the Strategic Operational Commander of the FANB, General in Chief GJ. Domingo Hernández Lárez on social media, the AMB deployed its assets on reconnaissance and armed patrol mission in the area of the Aguaro-Guariquito National Park after detecting an aircraft located near an unauthorized improvised dirt airstrip.
The illegal airstrip was hidden in a wooded area of Guarico state, so the AMB proceeded to render the aircraft inoperable, which entered the national territory flying at low altitude, with the transponder system turned off and without any kind of identification. After the aerial immobilization, through the use of URRA reconnaissance units, the aircraft was identified as a Piper PA-34-200T Seneca II with registration PR-RP.
While the method of rendering the aircraft inoperable was not indicated, it is presumed that F-16 Fighting Falcon aircraft were involved. It is worth noting that weeks ago, the AMB shot down two hostile aircraft with F-16 aircraft in the municipality of Pedro Camejo in the Apure state. Although not officially confirmed, in the recent incident in Guarico state, it is estimated that F-16 aircraft also participated, using their 20mm M61A1 cannon, based on a post made in X where ammunition loading in the aircraft was observed.
