As part of increasing its motorized infantry transport capabilities, the Ecuadorian Army received the first units of the new Mbombe 6 armored vehicles manufactured by Paramount and acquired through the Israeli company Elbit Systems.
These units, acquired in 2022, are intended for military operations to combat terrorist groups and drug trafficking organizations operating in the northern border and will be operated by the Mechanized Cavalry Brigade No. 3 “Manabí”. It is a 6×6 wheeled armored vehicle with the capacity to transport up to 11 fully equipped soldiers.
For crew protection, it features STANAG 4569 level 4 armor, which enables it to withstand landmines, improvised explosive devices, side blasts, and RPG attacks. The crew consists of a driver, the armored vehicle commander, a gunner, and 8 infantry personnel.
Furthermore, the vehicles acquired by Ecuador will have radio communication through the E-LynX software, along with a set of applications for combat information management, and the Magni vertical takeoff and landing drone. The latter is designed to provide real-time intelligence thanks to its fully autonomous operation and advanced control software, allowing it to be launched from a vehicle and operated by a single operator.
