With the aim of enhancing capabilities and ensuring security commitment throughout the U.S. European Command’s area of responsibility, the U.S. Air Force (USAF) deployed two B-52H Stratofortress bombers to Fairford Air Base in the United Kingdom.

Both aircraft, belonging to the USAF’s Fifth Bomb Wing, will operate during their stay in the United Kingdom under the 69th Expeditionary Bomb Squadron as part of Bomber Task Force Europe 24-3. Throughout the deployment, the bombers and the assigned personnel will participate in operational missions alongside the Air Forces of NATO member countries in the Large Scale Global Exercise 2024.

It is worth noting that such missions are frequently conducted by the U.S. Air Force in Europe. Similar to operations in Africa, these deployments enhance strategic predictability and security for allies and partners while contributing to deterrence by introducing a strategic capability against potential adversaries.

Recently, given the frequent USAF deployments in Europe, a total of four B-1B Lancer bombers from the U.S. Air Force operated last month from Morón Air Base, Spain, as part of integrated exercises between Spanish and U.S. forces.
