Seeking to enhance its response capabilities to disasters and natural phenomena affecting the country, the Peruvian Army Aviation reintroduced a significant number of aircraft, including helicopters and fixed-wing airplanes, on June 10th. The reintroduction of these assets took place during a ceremony attended by the Peruvian Minister of Defense, Walter Astudillo Chávez, along with the Chief of the Joint Command of the Armed Forces, General David Ojeda Parra, and the Army’s General Commander, General César Briceño Valdivia.

In light of the El Niño phenomenon affecting various localities, the government of Peru, through Supreme Decree No. 067-2023-EF, mandated the recovery and reactivation of more aircraft that are part of the Peruvian Army Aviation’s assets.

Thanks to images shared on social media and official statements, the Peruvian Ministry of Defense detailed that four Mil Mi-17 helicopters and two Agusta 109Ks, along with two Antonov 32Bs, two Beechcrafts (notably the Beechcraft 1900D), and a Cessna 206 were reintroduced. The recovery, maintenance, and upgrading work was carried out by the Specialized Aeronautical Maintenance Battalion (BEMAE) of the Peruvian Army, located in Callao.

During the reintroduction ceremony of the previosuly mentioned aircraft, the Vice Minister of Defense Resources, Adolfo Herrera Orlandini, and the Commander of the Army Aviation, Brigadier General Emanuel Jesús Pajuelo Barba, were also present.
