The Paraguayan Air Force contributed to all humanitarian assistance and reconstruction operations in the city of Porto Alegre, in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, which suffered from flooding last May. One of the Paraguayan Air Force’s CASA C-212 transport aircraft was deployed to the Brazilian Air Force Base in Santa Maria, conducting cargo and civilian transfers in the affected areas.

This joint effort is one of many collaborations between FAP and FAB officers. The deployed CASA C-212 will be one of the operational aircraft in the upcoming Cruzex 2024 exercise, scheduled to take place from November 2 to 17 in the northern city of Natal.

In addition to the support provided to civilians by the efforts of both Air Forces, these operations help in the understanding and development of the officers in the use of NATO language, which is utilized in humanitarian missions and the upcoming Combined Exercise CRUZEX.

New Military Pilots

The Paraguayan Air Force graduated nine officers as new military aviator pilots (PAM). They were trained at the Air Base in Concepción, where they received instruction on T-35 Pillán aircraft. Among the nine graduates, Lieutenants Elena Flecha and Liz Gavilán stand out, further increasing the number of female military aviator pilots in the Paraguayan Air Force.
