US Ordnance, housed in the United States pavilion, brought its well-known families of light and medium machine guns – the M249, M60E6, and M240 – to Paris for Eurosatory 2024. The exhibition provided an opportunity for them to showcase the latest modifications made to their products.
For the medium machine gun family M240, US Ordnance not only displayed some of the most popular variants but also highlighted the latest enhancements introduced to the infantry variant. These modifications aimed to lighten the weapon and improve ergonomics, featuring a new height-adjustable bipod, Picatinny rail handguards, and an extendable stock.
Similar solutions were applied to the light machine gun M249 Para, which featured handguards similar to first-generation SAW (Squad Automatic Weapon). Unlike other companies, US Ordnance maintains this proven and continually improved configuration.
In the realm of 7.62mm light machine guns, the standout was undoubtedly the M60E6, the latest variant of the renowned M60 series. As previously reported, this version incorporates various enhancements that make it one of the lightest and most versatile models in its category.
It’s worth noting that the Argentine Air Force Special Operations Group selected the M60E6 as part of its modernization program, which includes the integration of portable weapons and various types of equipment.
Like many exhibitors at Eurosatory 2024, US Ordnance is responding to growing demand, keeping their production lines in constant operation. This includes not only the M240, M249 families but also heavy machine guns like the M2, as well as the Mk19 40mm automatic grenade launchers.
