Earlier this June, the Argentine Navy issued a tender for the purchase of various types of spare parts for its Sea King helicopters. These aircraft, which serve with the Naval Aviation Command, are crucial for supporting the Summer Antarctic Campaign as well as troop transport and search and rescue missions.
The process, initiated in early June, was driven by the Comandante Espora Naval Aviation Arsenal to ensure the operational readiness of the Sea Kings in the Second Naval Air Helicopter Squadron (EAH2), which houses the primary assets of this weapon system.
The items listed in the official tender, which began on June 10 and concluded on June 26, include the provision of various supplies and rotables to ensure the fleet’s operational readiness. The bid opening is scheduled for today.
As observed during the Gringo-Gaucho II Exercise, the Sea Kings remain relevant, having operated from the flight deck of the USS George Washington, a United States Navy aircraft carrier. During these combined activities, one of the UH-3Hs (registration 2-H-241) participated, alongside one of the recently acquired Sea Kings from the American firm Carson Helicopters. Additionally, during exercises conducted with the Fleet, the Sea Kings performed refueling and personnel transport operations alongside MEKO 360 destroyers.
