The Brazilian public company Empresa Gerencial de Projetos Navais (Emgepron), linked to the Ministry of Defense (MD) and subordinate to the Command of the Brazilian Navy, will hold a roadshow in São Paulo on June 25, 2024, to provide information to potential investors interested in the Almirante Jurandyr da Costa Müller de Campos Factory (FAJCMC).

Located in the Naval Complex Guandu do Sapé, in the municipality of Rio de Janeiro, the artillery factory produces medium and large-caliber ammunition used by the Brazilian Navy and exported mainly to countries in South America, Africa, and Asia. The production includes:

  • 155mm, M107.
  • 120mm Mortar.
  • 4.5” MK-8 (114.3mm).
  • 105mm M57M1 and LG.
  • 3” L/50 (76.2mm).
  • 57mm L/70.
  • 40mm L/60 and L/70.
  • 47mm and 105mm blank ammunition.
Artillery ammunition fabricated locally.

According to official information from the state company’s press release, issued on July 8, the public tender document is expected to be launched in the second half of 2024, after approval by the relevant authorities.

The event in São Paulo is organized by Emgepron and the Brazilian Navy’s Directorate of Weapons Systems (DSAM) and aims to present the “main elements of the public tender proposal for the concession of the operational management” of the factory—owned by the Navy and managed by Emgepron since 1996.

Behind the scenes, according to sources consulted by the Zona Militar portal, there is already significant activity around the topic. The tender is expected to attract considerable domestic and international interest, due, among other things, to FAJCMC’s production capacity of 155mm artillery shells.
