The Chilean Navy Marine Corps continue their training at RIMPAC 2024, the world’s largest naval exercise taking place in Hawaii, United States. According to the institution, a platoon specializing in Urban Operations (MOUT), patrols, offensive actions, sniper shooting, forward observation, and Joint Terminal Attack Controller (JTAC) duties has been assigned to Bravo Company for simulations.
In upcoming exercises, the personnel will engage in new squad-level offensive actions and receive training in aerial operations. This is aimed at expanding their knowledge of other countries while enhancing relationships with participating nations.
The Navy explained in a statement that in addition to Marine Infantry platoon activities, they are integrated into the RIMPAC Amphibious Task Force Command Post alongside four Marine officers, who plan and conduct parts of the exercises.
It’s noteworthy that on May 27, the crew of the FF-06 Almirante Condell Frigate departed from ValparaÃso bound for Hawaii to participate in RIMPAC 2024, completing a total of three months away from their home port.
RIMPAC 2024, or Rim of the Pacific, aims to promote regional stability in the Pacific and is the principal international joint and combined exercise. World-class training methods are utilized during the procedures. Chile has been an active participant since 1996, with the exception of 2020 due to the pandemic.
This year’s edition includes 29 countries such as Germany, Brazil, Canada, Denmark, the United States, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom, Singapore, as well as Chile, Peru, and Mexico. These navies are represented by 40 ships, three submarines, over 150 aircraft, and approximately 25,000 personnel.
