According to an official statement, the U.S. Department of Defense has announced an additional assistance package aimed at addressing Ukraine’s critical security and defense needs amid the ongoing conflict with the Russian Federation.

Valued at approximately $200 million, the package will provide Ukraine with key military capabilities, including interceptors for air defense, ammunition for rocket and artillery systems, and anti-tank weaponry, among other items.

Additionally, a support package of around $1.5 billion was announced for long-term contracts related to the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative (USAI). This package includes capabilities to enhance air defenses, firepower, with a focus on anti-tank armament, and provides funding for the maintenance and sustainment of equipment already supplied by the U.S.

The list of planned armaments includes:

  1. Ammunition for Ground-Based Air Defense Systems (NASAMS)
  2. Ammunition for short- and medium-range air defense systems
  3. RIM-7 anti-aircraft missiles
  4. Electronic warfare equipment
  5. Ammunition for High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems (HIMARS)
  6. 155 mm and 105 mm artillery ammunition
  7. 120 mm mortar ammunition
  8. Precision-guided air munitions
  9. Tube-launched, optically tracked, and wire-guided (TOW) missiles
  10. Javelin and AT-4 anti-tank systems
  11. Light weapons
  12. Explosives and demolition materials
  13. Secure communications systems
  14. Commercial satellite imagery communication services
  15. Spare parts, maintenance support, and other auxiliary equipment

This is the twentieth USAI package under the Biden Administration and the sixty-second tranche of material from the Department of Defense inventories provided to Ukraine since August 2021.
