Continuing with the deployment being carried out by the Russian Navy together with the Chinese Navy yesterday, there is also the presence of India with the frigate INS Tabar. As reported by the Baltic Fleet, both forces conducted exercises in the Gulf of Finland as part of the combined maritime operations and exercises under the title Indra 2024.
The Indian Navy frigate that arrived last July 27 in St. Petersburg, Russia, is not participating in Russian naval activities for the first time. Previously, the INS Tabar had been present at the July 25, 2022 Naval Parade on the occasion of the 325th anniversary of the Russian Navy.
In this context, according to TASS, during the recent exercises, both the Russian and Indian Navies received a distress signal from a vessel, which forced the naval units to alter their course and proceed to the designated area. They conducted joint drills to rescue survivors from the surface and provide medical assistance.
Additionally, the crews of the Russian and Indian ships practiced searching for floating mines using radiotechnical equipment. These targets were successfully destroyed by onboard artillery.
This training adds to the exercises Russia has been conducting with China in the same area. The three navies were seen off by President Vladimir Putin last Sunday to mark Indian Navy Day.
According to various reports, this year’s participation includes 20 ships and submarines from Russia, among others. China is participating with the destroyer Jiaouo, and Algeria’s Navy is participating with the training ship Soummam.
