Against the backdrop of the upcoming AUSA 2024 International Exhibition in Washington, D.C., AM General will be present at the event with its latest innovations in the 4×4 armored utility vehicle segment, as well as high-mobility fire support solutions. More specifically, the South Bend-based company will showcase the new generation of JLTV A2 vehicles, the 105mm mobile artillery howitzer HUMVEE 2-CT Hawkeye, and the MIMIC-V multi-purpose vehicle.
“AUSA is an important event for the industrial base and provides us with the opportunity to update our key customer, the U.S. Army, on the latest developments to maintain their readiness. And for AM General, it comes at a time when we are preparing for JLTV A2 production,” said Jim Cannon, President and CEO of AM General. “We are extremely proud and excited to present products that are actively supporting warfighters and will continue to transform capabilities to support their mission.”
Visitors to the company’s stand will get a first look at the JLTV A2, the new generation of the U.S. Army’s light tactical vehicle. According to the company, it features significant improvements over the previous generation, such as “…an enhanced propulsion system, noise reduction improvements, and improved corrosion protection, among other upgrades. The company will also showcase the JLTV-T trailer, which has a load capacity of up to 5,100 pounds and an 18.5-inch suspension travel, making it a robust complement to the JLTV A2.”
In addition, considering the new requirements of the Armed Forces that combine firepower and high mobility, AM General will present the HUMVEE 2-CT Hawkeye. Born from a partnership with Mandus Group, which enabled the incorporation of soft recoil technology, the Hawkeye is a highly mobile 105mm artillery howitzer mounted on a HUMVEE platform, providing direct and indirect artillery fire support capability.
The company has indicated that the system is currently undergoing testing and evaluations in Eastern Europe. Although not mentioned in the official statement issued for the AUSA event, this refers to the provision of a prototype sent to the Ukrainian Armed Forces for evaluation in combat conditions.
Lastly, “AM General is also unveiling the first fully new construction of the MIMIC-V (Mission Integrated Maneuverable Interoperable Conformable Vehicle) prototype. The MIMIC-V is a platform designed and developed to meet the unique needs of special operations warfighters. Formerly known as the AM General Chieftain, the MIMIC-V is the company’s solution for tactical security. This high-performance, low-signature truck can operate in any environment for any tactical mission. As its name suggests, the key differentiator of the MIMIC-V is its ability to reduce its signature by resembling a commercial vehicle.”
