At the AUSA 2024 expo, Mack Defense unveiled its MD6 Electric, a fully electric tactical truck designed to redefine the logistical and operational capabilities of military forces in modern environments. In an interview with Zona Militar, Mack Defense President David Hartzell explained the truck’s features and the vision behind its development.

The MD6 Electric is part of the company’s push towards sustainable mobility in the military sector, aligning with the growing demand for electric vehicles that reduce environmental impact while enhancing operational efficiency. Mack Defense envisions a future where electric systems will be widespread enough to allow the operation of these vehicles even on the front lines, with assured logistical cycles.

The MD6 Electric is based on Mack’s MD platform, featuring an electric powertrain that offers quiet, emission-free operation. With an NMC (nickel, manganese, cobalt) lithium-ion battery, the vehicle provides extended range and fast-charging capabilities, making it a viable option for both tactical and logistical operations.

The vehicle has a load capacity of up to 19.5 tons and is designed to perform in various scenarios, from urban transport to more demanding terrains. Its silent operation is a key advantage for missions requiring stealth and operational discretion. Additionally, its modular structure allows for versatile configurations, enabling the installation of additional equipment as required for each mission.

The fast-charging system ensures the MD6 Electric can quickly return to service, supporting continuous use in prolonged deployments. Its design integrates with existing infrastructure and command-and-control systems, facilitating interoperability in combat or complex logistical operations. The modular design also allows for the installation of additional equipment and technologies, increasing its versatility across various mission scenarios.

Mack Defense focused on ensuring the MD6 Electric is not only efficient but also durable and capable of handling challenging terrains.
