Polaris Defense has showcased its platforms at the AUSA 2024 exhibition, highlighting the versatility and capability of its MRZR Alpha family of tactical vehicles. These vehicles excel in mobility, modularity, and adaptability for various missions, including operations in mountainous terrain and extreme conditions.

John LaFata, Program Manager at Polaris, spoke with Zona Militar and mentioned that several models were presented, including the MRZR Alpha with a closed cabin system. This vehicle is designed to provide additional protection to the occupant with a front and rear windshield, heating system, and windshield wipers. One of the most striking features of this model is its ability to operate in snow, thanks to the track kit, which enhances mobility on snowy and muddy terrain. “This system not only provides mobility in snow but also expands the vehicle’s capability to operate in muddy conditions and during seasonal transitions,” LaFata explained.

In addition to the standard model, Polaris introduced the MRZR Alpha 6×6, a variant that adds a third axle, increasing load capacity to support up to 3,000 pounds, compared to the 600 pounds of the standard model. “This model is designed to maintain 90% component commonality with the standard MRZR, which facilitates its maintenance and use in the field,” Polaris detailed.

Regarding expansion in Latin America, Polaris has made significant progress in countries like Argentina, and it is also in talks with other countries in the region such as Chile, where spare parts are being provided to keep the current fleet operational. New acquisitions are also being explored to replace some of their tactical vehicles.

The MRZR Alpha was highlighted at AUSA 2024 for its flexibility, being able to be transported in various aircraft such as the V-22 Osprey and the C-130. The vehicle features an adjustable suspension system that maintains 30 cm of ground clearance, even when fully loaded. This capability is essential for missions in difficult terrains, allowing the vehicle to maintain optimal performance in hostile environments.

Finally, the company mentioned that it is working on new technological integrations with its vehicles, such as the ability to operate autonomously in certain situations, as well as collaborating with local armies to tailor its products to the specific needs of each country.
