Over the past few years, facing the need to renew its fleet of tactical transport vehicles, the Argentine Army introduced a true novelty to the force with the acquisition of its first Polaris MRZR ultralight tactical vehicles. The presence of this new platform has been felt across the country during various training deployments, providing tactical mobility capabilities to Special Operations Forces and the IV Airborne Brigade. Although no new units were added in recent years, during our visit to the official stand of Polaris Defense at the AUSA International Fair, held in Washington, D.C. from October 14 to 16, company representatives confirmed to Zona Militar that they are preparing to send a new batch of MRZR vehicles to Argentina.
As previously mentioned, Polaris Defense has been promoting and pushing its 4×4 ultralight MRZR vehicles to South and Central American countries, aiming to meet the operational requirements of their armed forces to operate in diverse and complex environments. These environments range from plains to jungles, deserts, and mountains, to name just a few examples of the varied geography of the Americas.
One of the main regional users of Polaris Defense vehicles is the Argentine Army, which has incorporated a significant number of units. These are deployed during exercises by the Special Operations Forces and the IV Airborne Brigade, as well as in other units, participating in activities in mountain environments, plains, and Patagonian steppes. In light of the excellent performance of the MRZRs, the U.S. company confirmed to Zona Militar that they are preparing to send and deliver a new batch of vehicles.
Although no further details were provided, Polaris indicated that there are still several bureaucratic procedures to be completed, as required by the U.S. government and related agencies for military equipment sales operations. Once these issues are resolved, the new batch of military vehicles will be ready for shipment to Argentina. Finally, no specific details regarding the shipping and delivery timeline were provided, given the ongoing bureaucratic process.
