Twelve hours after its official reception by the Peruvian Air Force (FAP), the new Beechcraft King Air 360C completed its first successful mission in its role as an “air ambulance,” evacuating two critically ill children from the northern Lambayeque region to a specialized hospital in Lima. The assisted air transport of patients took place at night, from Air Group No. 6 at Chiclayo Air Base to Air Group No. 8 at Jorge Chávez International Airport.
The flight enabled the transfer of a 15-year-old teenager and a newborn, both of whom required urgent medical care due to life-threatening conditions, from the Lambayeque Regional Hospital to the National Institute of Child Health (INSN) in San Borja, Lima.
The mission of the aircraft, registered as FAP-345, involved a total round-trip distance of 1,500 kilometers. It was made possible through coordination between the FAP and the Mobile Emergency Care System (SAMU) of the Ministry of Health (Minsa), which activated the appropriate protocol for this type of situation.
The primary asset of the King Air 360C is its aeromedical evacuation capability, featuring a configuration with two stretchers and medical equipment for the transport of high-risk patients, along with five seats for medical personnel.
The military aviation institution reported that so far this year, a total of 35 citizens have been evacuated from various parts of the country through 22 aeromedical flights.
