ATAK T129 ATAK Contract has been signed on September 7th, 2007 as a result of an effort to meet the “attack & tactical reconnaissance helicopter” requirements of Turkish Army. The original Contract calls out for 50 helicopters. An amendment was made to the Contract on November 8th, 2010 to enable deliveries of nine additional helicopters, starting fifteen months earlier than planned. T129 is the result of the integration of nationally developed avionics and weapon systems on to the combat proven AgustaWestland A129 airframe, with upgraded engines, transmission and rotor blades. Optimized for “hot & high” environments, T129 is the most efficient Attack Helicopter in its class. T129 is designed to meet the demanding requirements of the Turkish Army. It is optimized to perform at “hot & high” environments with considerable fire-power. T129 has two versions. T129A is the “combat support” version capable of carrying 500 ea 20mm gun rounds and upto 76 guided or unguided 2.75” rockets. T129B is the “multi-role” version equipped with the leading edge electronic warfare systems and capable to carry a payload of 8 anti-tank missiles, 12 guided 2.75” rockets, 2 air-to-air missiles and 500 rounds, simultaneously.
