An F-4B Phantom II of Fighter Squadron (VF) 114 off the carrier Kitty Hawk (CVA 63) pictured during a combat mission while the squadron was deployed to the Western Pacific off the coast of Vietnam on April 15, 1968, forty-six years ago today. Known by such nicknames as the "Big Ugly" and the "Flying Anvil" the Phantom II was one of naval aviation's longest serving aircraft in the U.S. Navy and United States Marine Corps. #PlatformsMatter

Now restored to colors as #1 and on display at Burke-Lakefront Airport - Cleveland. This acft was never one of ours...altho it is nicely restored to colors at the Veterans Park there....next to Blue Angel #1. -0284 was the very first production F-4E for the USAF.
Retired to AMARC from Edwards AFB, circa 1991. Now on display as #2 in Athens, TN.
