The SH-2G Super Seasprite is a multi-mission helicopter, produced by Kaman Aerospace Corporation and originally designed as a shipboard utility helicopter for the U.S. Navy. The helicopter incorporates a unique blade flap design on the main rotors, allowing the pilot to fly without the aid of hydraulic assistance in an emergency situation. This medium-weight helicopter has the unique ability to operate from the deck of smaller ships, yet carry payloads that can enable diverse missions. The first two SH-2G Super Seasprites were delivered to the Polish Navy on September 12, 2002, and transported to Poland onboard the ORP General Kosciuszko. The second two helicopters arrived in Poland on August 25, 2003. The four SH-2G helicopters will operate from land or at sea from the decks of the ORP General Pulaski and ORP General Kosciuszko, both FFG class frigates obtained from the U.S. Navy. The SH-2G is capable of a variety of missions when operating independently or with the ship. However, current operations are focused on perfecting flight operations from the flight deck of the frigates, as well as maintaining the helicopters. Saludos!
