I made full use of 1006, a rare luxury. Apart from firing HE and starshell, we also loaded the guns with chaff charlie, sowing three 'ships' in Bahía de la Anunciación (Berkeley Sound). We hoped these would convince the enemy that other ships were approaching the shore. After firing the chaff, we hauled out to port to avoid entering the minefield, concluding our first circuit.</p><p>Whilst the gunnery was in progress the MCO and ops room teams had been making a lot of transmissions to simulate activity; one of the PWOs even resorted to reading passages of the seamanship manual on secure voice. <em><strong>On the upper deck, scare charges were being dropped and Verey lights fired.
