Astonishingly it was only twenty-five metres away from the trench sited on the re-entrant’s opposite side that contained the eighteen year-old Argentina machine-gunner conscript, Oscar Ledesma, who killed him. I could only conclude that ‘H’ Jones suffered tunnel vision in carrying out his one-man assault on the Argentine trench before him, and which won him a posthumous Victoria Cross.</blockquote>
