It has an meticulous time line and a correct sequence of events and movements. This account has been made possible with goodwill and co-operation of all ranks of the Third Battalion The Parachute Regiment. It will be published firstly, in the EBook / Kindle format; the reason behind this is because I have written far too much, when I contacted various publishers, they all liked it but felt it was too long, I have written 500 pages 205,000 words, and with the price of an average hardback book being roughly £15.99 and having only 200 pages. With having written 500 pages, a publisher would have to charge at least double the price £30.00, and people do not normally rush out and buy £30.00 books, and they thought at that price it would not sell in volume, and that’s how they make money. They all said you need to cut out at the very least fifty thousand words, but I simply couldn't; I felt everyone’s input was too important to be just cut out, as the whole idea from the start was to give a 360-degree view of the Battalion. So the idea now is, we will put the book out on Kindle / Ebook and see how it goes, the plan is once people have viewed it, if they like it, I will take order's cash up front and we can get a limited-edition print of maybe 250 / 300 depending on how many people want a Hardback book. At the moment, the account is with the ‘Copy Editor’. All books need to go through this process to double check grammar and punctuation. This will take another three to four weeks, after it comes back, I will send either Platoon or Company accounts back the interviewees to make sure everyone is happy with their accounts, and does not feel they have been misquoted in anyway. The book is basically an account detailing the move off on Friday evening 11th June, the battle and the following days until we moved off Longdon on Monday afternoon 14th June 1982. I have broken it up into chapters detailing, firstly, B Company/ Support Company / A Company / C Company / Medical and Evacuation.

Below are a few comments from a few people who have viewed 6 Platoon.

Lieutenant-General Sir Hew Pike KCB, DSO, MBE.

“I think it gives a most graphic and of course totally realistic picture of a platoon in close quarter infantry battle, through the words and memories of the participants.”

Author Patrick Bishop.

“It is utterly gripping and totally authentic.”

Michael Leventhal Publisher Frontline Books. “Extremely impressive, it is gripping and informative.”

I would like to thank everyone who has taken part in this project.

Ian Aird, Sulle Alhaji, Derek (Dex) Allen, Lawrie Ashbridge, Paul Bachurzewski, Ian Bailey, Len (Basher) Baines, Dave Barclay, Tony Barlow, Julian (Baz) Barrett, Mark (Chuck) Berry, Andrew (Bix) Bickerdike, Martin Bird, Richard (Dickie) Bishop Joe Black, Tony Bojko, Terry Bowdell, Trev Bradshaw, Mark Brown, John Burgess, John Carey, Mike Carr, Lenny Carver, Colin Charlton, Simon Clark, Martyn Clarkson Kearsley, Dean (Jasper) Coady, Kev Connery, Graham Colbeck, David Collett, Denzil Connick, Mark Cox, John Crosland, Mick Cullen, Duncan Daly, Bob Darby, Kev Darke, Jeremy (Jez) Dillon, Stuart Dover, George Duffus, Andy (Stretch) Dunn, Kev Eaton, Colin Edwards, Mark Eisler, Gordon Ellse, Mark Eyles Thomas, Dair Farrar Hockley, Brian Faulkner, Adrian Freer, Steve Gaines, Dave Gammon, Harry Gannon, Martin (spike) Glover, Ben Gough, Andy Gow, Robert Greasley, Stuart Grey, Grant Grinham, Barry Griffiths, Michael Hall, Charlie Hardwick, Pat Harley, Craig (Harry) Harrison, Derek Heaver, Graham Heaton, Pete Hindmarsh, Keith Hopper, Chris Howard, Mark (Zip) Hunt, Paul Hutchinson, Roger James, Dick Kalinski, Ned Kelly, John Kennedy, Steve Knights, Cliff Legg, Gareth Lewis, John Lewis, Adrian Logan, Roderick (Roddy) MacDonald, Donny McDonald, Peter Maddocks, Manny Manfred, Tony Mason, Chris Masterman, Steve McConnell, Kevin McGimpsey, Clint McMillon, Norman (Nobby) Menzies, Bill Metcalfe, Paul (Ginge) Moore, Jimmy Morham, Trudi Morrison (née) McPhee, Ian Mousette, Alec Munroe, Mike O’Neill, Craig (Tommy) Onions, Giles Orphen-Smellie, Martin Osborne, Chris Parris, Keith (Taff) Parry, John Patrick, Roger Patton, Gustavo Pedemonte, Johnny Pettinger, Hew Pike, Jerry Phillips, Phil Probets, George Pullin, Mark (Rolly) Rawlings, Paul Read, John Reeves, Paddy Rehill, Steve Richards, Martin (Taff) Richardson, Kevin Robison, Dave Roe, Nick Rose, John Ross, Ernie Rustill, Jonathan Shaw, Phil Simpson, Phil Skidmore Peter Skinner, Morgan Slade, Boyd Smith, Stephen Smith, Mick Southall, Andy Steadman, Vernon Steen, Andy Stone, Louie Sturge, Peter (Tomo) Thompson, Steve Tickle, Tommy Trindall, Graham Tolson, Mike Von Bertele, Kenny Watts, Johnny Weeks, Bob Whitehill, Trev Wilson, Paul Wray, Ashley Wright, Quintin (Q) Wright, Steve Wright.
