Many of you are asking about what is currently happening and what we can expect to happen regarding HMS Plymouth which was taken from us this morning by Peel Ports. As you are all no doubt aware, we are using the services of a Maritime Barrister from Ashfords of Plymouth in our campaign to save HMS Plymouth. He gave us the instruction of needing to raise £5k in order to persuit the avenue further of having HMS Plymouth arrested. Down to the goodwill of mostly our members and supporters we undertook this task and succeeded in around 18 hours - a fantastic result made possible by true "people power" to which did the cause proud. After Peel confirmed to the to the press that HMS Plymouth would leave toward the end of August, following our successful fundraiser they then rushed the job forward and had HMS Plymouth taken away ASAP before the warrant could be issued and potentially see her kept at Birkenhead. She is now out at sea under tow. We wish to reassure our members that the battle continues and the Trust's legal representative is not worried about the current situation. This may well raise the eyebrows of people wondering as to why but the answer is very simple.. This gentleman is a highly qualified professional at a very high profile and reputable specialist law firm. He has taken on the case and is working on it in that same capacity - something he would not do if he did not believe in. Put simply, this is not in anyway over and the reason for this is that we have a good case. We want to assure our members, supporters and those who donated to make our case possible that it is being handled by a professional now and we must allow him to do his job. We appreciate that many people will have no finger nails left at this point and the same very much goes for us but we really have to stress that this needs to be left well alone now until we can give you an update from the Barrister. As soon as we have something to tell you, we will tell you and that is our promise to you all. Please be aware, any attempts from other people to contact certain tug companies, ringing certain law firms continually etc will only hamper progress. So anybody who feels the need to do this - be clear, you are only being detrimental to the current plans of action. We hope to update you soon with news from the Maritime Barrister. Please keep checking the page for regular updates. Best Regards, HMS Plymouth Trust Limited. [/QUOTE]
