Mensaje: <blockquote data-quote="pabloeldido" data-source="post: 1763707" data-attributes="member: 5377">On this day in 1999, an F-117 from the 49th Fighter Wing, Holloman AFB, New Mexico, call sign Vega 31, was shot down over Serbia during Operation ALLIED FORCE.Three aircraft (MH-53M, MH-53J, MH-60), aircrews, and Special Tactics members responded. Within 5 hours of being alerted the AFSOC assets recovered the F-117 pilot just prior to Serbian forces who were bearing down on the downed pilots location. For their efforts Capt. James L. Cardoso and Capt.
