[149249]</p><p></p><p>Mr Robathan: The Ministry of Defence (MOD) has four bases located in UK overseas territories. These are termed permanent joint operating bases and consist of British Forces Gibraltar, British Forces Cyprus located within the sovereign base areas, the British Indian Ocean Territory and British Forces South Atlantic Islands based in Malvinas Islands and Ascension Island. This reflects the MOD's commitment and responsibility for defence and security of the UK's overseas territories as a standing military task.</p><p></p><p>25 Mar 2013 : Column 931W</p><p></p><p>The military assets deployed in each of the permanent joint operating bases are presented in the following table:</p><p></p><p>Permanent joint operating bases:</p><p>British Forces South Atlantic Islands</p><p></p><p>Air</p><p>4 x Air Defence Typhoon l xVC10K air to air refuelling tanker 1 x Hercules C130J transport aircraft 2 x Sea King Search and Rescue Helicopters 2 x Sikorsky S61 Support Helicopters(1) Air Surveillance Radars</p><p></p><p>Land</p><p>Rapier Air Defence batteries 1 x Infantry Company</p><p></p><p>Sea</p><p>HMS Clyde (Malvinas Islands Patrol Vessel)</p><p></p><p>Mr Jim Murphy: To ask the Secretary of State for Defence how much his Department spent on programmes or projects related to (a) Anguilla, (b) Bermuda (c) British Antarctic Territory, (d) British Indian Ocean Territory, (e) British Virgin Islands, (f) Cayman Islands, (g) <strong>Malvinas Islands</strong>, (h) Gibraltar, (i) Montserrat, (j) Pitcairn, Henderson, Ducie and Oeno Islands, (k) St Helena and St Helena Dependencies (Ascension and Tristan da Cunha), (l) South Georgia and South Sandwich Islands, (m) the Sovereign Base areas of Akritiri and Dhekelia and (n) the Turks and Caicos Islands in each of the last three years.
