The majority of the British armed forces did not even know where the Malvinas Islands were.

When Argentina decided to take the Malvinas using her armed forces we were ordered to take them back. Our thoughts were not full of emotion, we simply trained as we headed south and knew we were in for a hard fight. We had many lectures that showed us what you had militarily and we were told to expect losses.

If you looked me in the eyes and asked me your question I would have to tell you that at the time I thought we were recovering British territory from a hostile force.

Today I am aware that the people of your country have an emotional attachment to the islands that our population could not match.

The British military that took part in the conflict are as passionate about the Malvinas/Malvinas as you are. This is why after 27 years we really are still not communicating with each other. Passions are still very high.

Sr. Galtieri (G) pensó que UK quedaría sin reaccionar (militarmente)?; y de esa forma salir victorioso de la disputa sin entrar en conflicto armado.
En lo que respecta a la pregunta a la Sra. Thatcher (MT): me refería a que si ella (MT) ha utilizado como excusa al conflicto del Atlántico Sur para salvar la imágen de Margaret Thatcher (políticamente), y al partido político que representaba.
Le aclaro que, de haber estado en el lugar de ella, quizás hubiera reaccionado de la misma forma. Respeto a la Sra. Margaret Thatcher como Primer Ministra que fue. Y sin dudas que será recordada.

Pd.: sabía Ud. que había posibilidades en ese entonces (y antes del conflicto) de que UK y Argentina llegaran a un entendimiento? No estaba tan lejos de resolverse la disputa.

Now... years after... trying to understand what did happend, and reading your posts, listening the history from the man who did it, i realize thath beyond the fellings envolved (we love these islands), the war was made for political reasons, and we could try another way first, speaking with reasonable people like you in U.K. and trying to understand each other. then, if anithig else work, ok, then we got a war.

Hello, my name is Henrico Angerman from Holland. I reached the age of 40 last May and I am proud father of two childeren; a boy called CJ and a babygirl with the name Dayri. My passion starts back in 1982, when I was 13 years old and just started my hobby as aviation enthusiast or "spotter" as we called ourselves. I can tell you that my story is a very interesting one, as I later became known in Argentina armed forces (Fuerza Aérea and CoAN) as the "Malvinas Tattoo boy" simply because I have the Malvinas Islands tattood on my left arm, in the colours of Argentine flag and the large "sun of Mayo" shinning above. Very nice..... to show my respect, love and passion for the Argentine case. I am born in 1969 at Soesterberg, a military village with great history. After all, Soesterberg was the first military airfield in Holland and became operational in 1909. The Dutch Air Force started it's life here. By 1982 the Airbase was used by USAF and the Royal Netherlands Air Force. The Dutch flew the Alouette III helicopters and Fokker F.27 Troopship from here, while the USAF has it's unique 32nd Tactical Fighter Squadron here flying the F-15C Eagle. In the year 1982 the USAF squadron frequently exercised with other NATO air arms, and in April four RAF Phantom FGR.2's came for one week exercise with the F-15's. At one day I was close at the fence of the base, waving the Argentine flag toward the RAF Phantoms came by when taxi to the runway.... you should have seen there faces :smilielol5: For the whole period I came to the base and show the blue/white/blue flag...... and screaming the famous "Malvinas are Argentinas....." . Much later, in 1990 I paid my first visit to Argentina, as a friend of well known author Jorge Padín in Bahía Blanca. In 1991 I returned and received a very warm welcome by former Malvinas veteran pilots, and since that time I continue my friendship with Fuerza Aérea Argentina. In those years I have frequently designed patches for 2 Escuadrilla Aer. de Caza y Ataque (SUE), Mirage and V Brigada Aérea.....

One interesting story is that in 1993 I painted the small Malvinas map on one visiting RAF Buccaneer aircraft that visited Soesterberg AB. Next day the Cmdr. received a very pissed off RAF officer who wanted to know which person did the "damage" on his plane. Although never heard from this adventure, I received the message that the plane took off with the markings!!!

Well, it's a pleasure to be here with you guys, hope to start some friends here on this forum.

Una historia interesante es que en 1993 pinte la figura de las Malvinas en un Bucaneer perteneciente a la RAF que visitaba la base de Soesterberg. Al dia siguiente el Comandante recibio un oficial de la RAF sumamente enojado que queria saber quien habia "dañado" su avion. Luego recibi el mensaje que el avion despego con las marcas !!!

Correct about what you hear from my friend Pablo "Cruz" Carballo, I was with him and family back in 1997 when he was living near El Palomar, Bs. Aires. A very nice and friendly person, a real combat pilot and aviator in heart and soul.

Every year arround may I light some candle's to remember the fallen heroes of the 1982 Malvinas War.... we should never forget them.

I was "forgotten" there for four days because I could not make it back, been with the 25 Reg at the airport and then with the troops from the naval base where I found some comrades from the BIM 2 (Marine Infantry Batallion 2). At the dawn of the fourth day I could make it back on a plane from the Argentinean Navy.

Al dia siguiente el Comandante recibio un oficial de la RAF sumamente enojado que queria saber quien habia "dañado" su avion. Luego recibi el mensaje que el avion despego con las marcas !!!

Disculpen que salieron las dos traducciones en un mismo post, pero hace MEDIA HORA que estoy tratando de subir la traduccion de PilotoRico a un post separado de la de cawan y no pude, no se porque el foro me las junta y la RPMQLRP.

Estimado Cawan, la presion la tengo alta desde que me qeude sin laburo alla a fin del año pasado, asi que peor de lo que esta...le mando un abrazo, es un gusto leer sus posts sobre entrenamiento en el monte, lo mas cerca que estuve de ese entorno fue en las pasarelas de las cataratas del Iguazu.
