The flagship of the Pacific Fleet, the guided-missile cruiser " Varyag " , performing combat missions in the Mediterranean for the first time in decades, arrived in the Egyptian port of Alexandria.
During the six-day unofficial visit the Russian sailors will make protocol visits to the command of the naval base and the Governor of Alexandria, Navy warships will visit the Arab Republic of Egypt and take part in sports competitions in football with their counterparts from the Egyptian Navy, commander Captain First Rank Alexander Potapov met representatives of the Russian diplomatic mission and the command of the Alexandria Naval Base.
