I am not an aviation expert but I think it is floatation equipment. The Arg soldiers are picking up the smallest debris. It was not nice to watch but the Paratroopers were very professional and you knew who was in charge.

the reason i am asking is i have been named in the photo below wearing an Argentinian jacket.

here is an email i received about the photo.
The black & white photograph, in which I named you as a wounded soldier, was taken shortly after reaching the lower rocks. I met up with John Kennedy, and one other, who informed us that we needed to move some casualties out of the line of fire. That was my first recollection of you. It was now daylight. I don't know who carried you but you were left propped against a small rock, behind Steve Hope. John moved over and started to apply a drip to someone I didn't know. Steve Hope had been dropped twice so Mac McFarlane started to adjust his field dressing and check life-signs. As the first photograph was taken two mortars landed. I am seen kneeling beside Steve Hope holding my helmet with my right hand. Mac McFarlane is leaning over Steve Hope, as he was applying a new field dressing, and the wound was exposed. He was trying to keep flying debris out of the wound. The other guy for 7 Platoon (unclear to me) assisted in protecting Steve's wound. You were on your own at this point, as the picture clearly shows.
At this point I moved over to you to check your life signs. I remember your field dressing had been lifted as seen in the picture. I took your pulse and placed another field dressing over the wound. I stayed with you for about 10 minutes. I took off your gloves and massaged your hands trying to get circulation back into your fingers. I also remember blowing warm breath onto your icy hands cupped in mine. As for the jacket, I'm unclear. I think you had on a wind proof but I couldn't swear to it. When they took the casualty away to your right (as you look at the photograph) I pulled over the poncho and tucked it around you to keep you warm.
As I said I was with you for about 10 minutes. Then they took you away.

I am almost certain that it is you in the photograph. I remember you now and also remember Neil Parkin (medic) - who sadly died of cancer a few years ago) taking a jacket off one of the Argentine casualties who were in the aid post and placing it on a 3 Para soldier who was drifting in and out of consciousness and shivering, I believe that soldier was you. I was there helping when the casi-vac helicopter came in
Thanks for contacting me Jimmy and I hope this helps clarify something, the more I think about it I am certain it is you in the picture as the Argentine jacket and the similar injuries are to much of a coincidence.

In my opinion, #1 is a conscript; #2 seems to be Carrizo
(Carrizo lost his eye; #1´s eyes are in well condition)
Your "morphing" sequence is amazing! and seems to be correct.
But the coincidences are big enough to doubt!

Hi Jimmy and welcome aboard.
The picture 01 clearly shows he is not José Oscar Carrizo. This man have more european features than Carrizo. Daily Express was absolutely wrong... twice!!!
I read before about your story in Military Photos and I believe until today the man laying wounded was you.
But looking again the pictures, Im not sure.
The best way to add light about this is searching more details in Carrizo´s accounts.

hi Patanglén, is there any more photos of Oscar Carrizo, as have read lots of his his accounts of being wounded and he does not know that much other than stumbling about and being taken to the aid post then taken away by helicopter,
mine is quite similar after i was wounded confusion and drifting in and out of conciousness i have only vague memories of the aid post, i was taken away by snow cat vehicle, but what i cannot understand is that i have been named by four different individuals, so either they are all not telling the truth, but what would four different people who are not in contact with each other gain, and one a medic..it is quite puzzling does Oscar ever come onto the forum,
I love to chat to him, ps if you read Two Sides Of Hell. by Vince Bramley i am featured on page 179 Jimmy O'Connell as you will read i was not well.

Hi it was through top centre of my nose passing through my right eye exiting through right side of head,, but i was initially dealt with in the dark they put shell dressings all over my head, they even thought i had lost an ear,,but when i was in the aid post someone attacked me and started pulling my dressings off because i had some right across my face, if you look at the photo of me arriving home look at my hair its quite long,

By chance I was reading Bramley´s book some months ago, and I remember the accounts from both sides soldiers. I never realised that you and Carrizo shared the same medical post. I remember the first man who helped Carrizo (after he was shooted by british soldier during his surrender) was Denzil Connick, then both were carried by helicopter to be treated in a hospital ship.
Last time I saw Carrizo was in TV Documentary, some years ago. If you wish the sequence in video, PM me:
You are right Yelmo, some sources indentify the soldier wearing the helmet as Oscar Carrizo. He is a man very noticeable cause his height. Except one of the men who are helping him in the picture the others seems to be more shorter.
Interesting details about his nose, and the very inflamed left side...more close to Oscar than Jimmy.
Hope we can research more to contact Oscar.

Casualmente hace unos meses estuve leyendo el libro de Bramley. No me di cuenta que ambos (Jimmy y Carrizo) habían compartido el mismo puesto sanitario. Recuerdo que el primer inglés que ayudo a Carrizo (luego de que fuera abatido por soldados ingleses mientras se rendía) fue Denzil Connick, que luego ambos serían enviados por helicóptero a un buque hospital.
Esta es la foto de la última vez que vi a Carrizo, en un documental de la TV.
Yelmo, tenés razón. Algunas fuentes citan al soldado de la foto como Carrizo. Él es una persona bastante fácil de reconocer dada su altura y viendo en la foto y exceptuando a uno de los soldados que lo están ayudando, el resto parecen mucho más bajos.
Interesante el detalle de la nariz y el lado izquierdo más inflamado, más cera de Oscar que de Jimmy.
Espero que podamos seguir investigando y contactar con Oscar.

Yes Jimmy I know Denzil, by chance again both were involved one month ago in a bittersweet affair revealing the true identity of a guy who tried to impersonate a British Malvinas/Malvinas veteran in Spain.
Indeed, a small world.
Well, I did a picture frame capture from the documentary. May be with this photo angle it can help you to do another morph sequence with the pictures, but this time with Carrizo:

he looks remarkably well, were did the round enter and were did it leave, a 7.62 hitting you in the head at close range, i would expect to pass straight through, and make a mess leaving, does anyone know him, and know were the bullet hit, and came out.

hi Guillermo, Well after comparing the photo supplied by Patanglén, i must admit defeat,,:cheers2: after I cut the eye brows and mouth out of the supplied photo and put them over the original, they fit,

i genuinely thought it was me, especially with the correspondence that I had received confirming it was me!!
But I would like to thank you all for assistance, it has been a pleasure,
