First Raptor Supersonic AIM-9X Launch
The first AIM-9X Sidewinder air-to-air missile launch from an F-22 Raptor traveling at supersonic speeds was carried out on July 30, 2012, over the Sea Test Range at Point Mugu, Calif. Maj. Ryan Howland of the F-22 Combined Test Force at Edwards AFB, California, was at the controls. The first launch of an AIM-9X from the F-22 was carried out in May 2012. This test firing was part of the flight testing and integration of the AIM-9X on the Raptor, expected to run through 30 August 2013.

F-22 makes a supersonic v supersonic AMRAAM intercept, Air-to-Air
During a test conducted on 5 November, a Lockheed Martin F/A-22 Raptor fighter flying at supersonic speed successfully engaged a supersonic drone target. The trial was conducted using Raptor 07, the seventh flight test aircraft built, and is one of several Pentagon-mandated milestones that must be achieved before the USAF awards the F-22 Lot 3 production contract.
Flying at Mach 1.5 at an altitude of 35,000ft above the Pacific Missile Test Range off the coast of southern California. US Air Force Maj James Dutton launched and guided a Raytheon AIM-120 AMRAAM missile against the AQM-37 drone, which was approaching the fighter from directly in front, and flying at an altitude of 50,000ft.
