LOCKHEED MARTIN SELECTED TO PROVIDE RADAR SYSTEM FOR AT-63 PAMPA TRAINER/LIGHT ATTACK AIRCRAFT
SANTIAGO, CHILE, April 1, 2002 -- Lockheed Martin today announced it has been selected to provide its AN/APG-67(V)4 multi-mode radar system for the AT-63 Pampa Light Attack aircraft as a subcontractor to Lockheed Martin Aircraft Argentina, S.A.
"We are pleased to team with our South American colleagues to provide the first-ever radar system for the AT-63," said Dick Evans, director, airborne radar programs. "With the AN/APG-67, pilots will have increased situation awareness and fire control capabilities, which will better prepare them for modern combat engagement."
The AN/APG-67 radar system will provide the Pampa with significant air-to-air and air-to-ground detection, tracking and attack capability. The air-to-ground modes allow for identification and tracking of both fixed and moving targets on the ground. The radar can track up to 10 targets at a time, and the tracking modes allow the pilot to lock on and maintain track during high-g maneuvers. The radar is fully integrated and tested with Beyond Visual Range (BVR) missiles.
Lockheed Martin produces the AN/APG-67(V)4 at its facility in Syracuse, N.Y. The AN/APG-67 currently is used in the Taiwan Indigenous Defense Fighter aircraft. A version of the radar for the T/A-50 aircraft, which the Republic of Korea Air Force will use for training and attack, is undergoing full-scale development and is scheduled to be completed by the end of this year.
